Finlay Hydrascreens J-1175 Operators Manual

Finlay Hydrascreens J-1175 Operators Manual cover

You’re running a Finlay Hydrascreens J-1175 Operators Manual on a job site. The crusher jams. The aftermarket PDF you grabbed skips the lockout procedure. Now you’ve got a $300,000 paperweight because you guessed on the hydraulic sequence. That’s why the factory 175-page manual exists. Printed by Finlay Hydrascreens (Omagh) Ltd., it tells you exactly what not to touch and in what order. No guessing. No shortcuts.

Finlay Hydrascreens J-1175 Operators Manual: Safety First

Section 1 runs from SA-2 to SA-19. It covers hydraulic safety, electrical and engine safety, and what to do before operation, maintenance, and transport. Page SA-9 spells out hydraulic safety – stored pressure in lines, proper venting. Page SA-10 covers Electrical and Engine safety: disconnect battery, wait for engine cool-down. If you skip that, you’re asking for a fire. I’ve seen it. Section 1.9 lists remote stops – know where they are before you start the machine. Section 1.11 gives noise levels, so you can spec hearing protection.

Installation and Operation: Getting the Machine Running

Section 3 walks you through starting the engine, the starter panel indicators, and the Engine Monitoring System (EMS). Section 3.5 covers the detachable wheeled unit. Section 3.6 on tracking – you’ll need the remote handset procedure from 3.7. Section 4 is operation: manual plant mode (4.5) vs. auto mode (4.6). Blocked crusher procedure is 4.9 – that’s a time-saver if you’re clearing a jam. The initial start-up and running-in process (4.7) is often ignored by crews who think they know better. Don’t be that guy.

Maintenance Schedules and Greasing – Section 5

Section 5 is 26 subsections of real maintenance. Hydraulic system (5.5), fluids (5.6), filtration (5.7). Diesel engine (5.9), crusher (5.10), feeder (5.11). Belt tracking on the main conveyor (5.13) and tensioning (5.14). Changing hydraulic filters and oil (5.16) – you’ll need the correct viscosity from Section 5.23. Changing engine filters and oil (5.17), fuel filter (5.18). Grizzly feeder gearbox oil (5.19), track gearbox oil (5.20), track adjustment (5.21). Crusher maintenance (5.22) includes jaw liner wear limits. The greasing schedule (5.24) lists every grease point and interval. Use the wrong grease and you’ll wipe out bearings. Section 5.25 covers hydraulic ram maintenance. The maintenance schedule (5.26) is your crew’s bible – follow it or rebuild the crusher early. This manual is 175 pages of OEM data; don’t treat it as optional reading.

Is This Manual Right for Your Crew?

If you’re an operator, a site foreman, or a mechanic responsible for a J-1175, yes. The manual assumes you know how to operate heavy equipment but not necessarily this specific machine. Section 2.7 on correct use of machine defines what you can and cannot do – overloads, slope limits, material specs. If you’ve got new hires, hand them this manual before they touch the starter. If you’re also running other gear, check the Hitachi ZAXIS225US-3 2007 Operators Manual | OEM Factory Specs or the Libra SK40 Operators Manual – Factory Specs or the Lister-petter TS, TR, TX 2000 Operators Manual | OEM Factory Specs for your other equipment. For understanding basic Manual Transmission principles, that’s outside this crusher manual, but your dump truck driver might need it. Manual Transmission knowledge helps with haul trucks, not the crusher itself.

Why Factory Documentation Beats Aftermarket

Aftermarket operators manuals often crop out safety pages to save space. Not this one. Finlay Hydrascreens (Omagh) Ltd. wrote Section 1 for liability reasons – and for your safety. Every section includes a safety introduction. Section 3 starts with a safety warning before installation. Section 4 repeats safety before operation. Section 5 and 6 do the same for maintenance and transport. The OEM copyright on page 1 says no reproductions or copies without written consent. That’s because they don’t want third parties cutting corners. You get the real thing: factory hydraulic specs, engine data, and transport dimensions in Imperial units. No guesswork.

FAQ

Does the manual include wiring diagrams?
No. This is an operators manual, not a service manual.
How do I find the correct hydraulic fluid spec?
Section 5.6 covers hydraulic fluids, but you need to cross-reference the technical data in Section 2.4. The manual lists recommended lubricants in Section 5.23 and the greasing schedule in 5.24. Don’t substitute fluids without checking the OEM spec – using the wrong viscosity can damage the pump. I’ve seen it happen. Page numbers for fluid capacities are in the technical data section, but I’m not going to cite them here because you need to read the whole section, not just one number.
