If you’re working on a Caterpillar CTG, CTGD 2002 Electrical Schematic ATS and don’t have the factory wiring diagram, you’re flying blind. This 60-page manual is the real deal—OEM, no aftermarket garbage, printed January 2002. You need the correct power circuit layouts for 3/4 pole and 2 pole configurations, and this has them, amp range by amp range.

What’s Inside This 60-Page OEM Electrical Schematic

Open the PDF and you’re looking at the Table of Schematic: CTG from 40–200 Amp up to 1600–3000 Amp, each with 3/4 Pole and 2 Pole sheets. CTGD covers 40–260 Amp, 400, 600–3000 Amp. Then there’s the Options section—C/D One Channel Clock, Two Channel Clock, C/D-365, HT, Q2, Q3, ZNET100, 6A. The Component Locations Index (pages 33–42) maps out cabinet door locations, MX100, customer connection, and the power panel. CTG vs CTGD: Amp Range and Configuration Differences

CTG covers 40–200, 225–260, 400, 600–1200, and 1600–3000 Amps. CTGD starts at 40–260 and goes to 400, then 600–3000. The power circuit layouts differ: 3/4 Pole and 2 Pole. For example, CTG 40–200 Amp 3/4 Pole is Sheet 1 of 2 on page 3. CTGD 40–260 Amp 3/4 Pole uses a different sheet. The OEM manual keeps them separate because the wiring changes with amp ratings. Grab the wrong sheet and you’ll wire the neutral wrong—ask me how I know.

Options and Accessories: Clock, HT, and More

The CTG(D) Options section includes the C/D One Channel Clock, Two Channel Clock, and the C/D-365 model. Also HT (heater transformer?), Q2 and Q3 auxiliary contacts, ZNET100 communication, and the 6A option. Each option has its own schematic sheet. If your ATS has a clock, you need the correct page—page 35 for Two Channel Clock. Don’t use a generic aftermarket print; they’ll have the wrong pinouts. This factory manual is the only source you can trust.

Torque Specs for Lugs – Why the Page Matters

The manual ends with a “Tightening Torque for Lugs” section. That’s not in the table of contents as a page number, but it’s there. I’ve seen lugs torqued by feel come loose and arc. You need the ft-lb value for each stud size. Aftermarket manuals guess. This one gives you the factory spec. Use a calibrated torque wrench—no click-and-pray. The component location index (page 33) shows where the lugs are on the power panel.

Wiring Layouts: Power Circuit and Layout Sheets

Each amp range has Sheet 1 and Sheet 2. For CTG 40–200 Amp 3/4 Pole, Sheet 1 (page 3) shows the ATS power panel layout, bridge rectifier, main transfer operator, and all three lines—Normal (N1,N2,N3,NN), Emergency (E1,E2,E3,EN), and Load (T1,T2,T3,TN). Sheet 2 (page 4) covers the relay/transformer box schematic with control transformers, sensors, and coil control relays CCE and CCN. The color codes for transformer leads are printed: BK black, BK/W black/white stripe, BL blue, etc. That saves hours of chasing wires.
