GEHL 1620 Parts Catalog

GEHL 1620 Parts Catalog cover page - 32 page OEM parts manual

If you’re tracking down a beater chain or a cross conveyor sprocket for a GEHL 1620 forage box and you’re working from a third-party parts list, you’re rolling the dice. Aftermarket numbers are sometimes close – but close means a trip back to the dealer when the bolt holes don’t line up. This GEHL 1620 Parts Catalog is the factory book. 32 pages. Exploded diagrams. OEM part numbers. Torque values. No reprints.

GEHL 1620 Parts Catalog: What’s Inside

Every section you’d expect from a real parts manual. Decal locations (page 2), beaters and main apron drive (pages 6-7), cross apron and drive (8-9), shields and beater clutch belt drive (10-11), cross conveyor clutch belt drive (12-13), gearboxes (14-15), box components (16-17), housing components (18), lights (19), tie down kit (20), PTO parts (21), optional 12″ extension (22). Alphabetical and numerical indexes round it out. That’s the whole machine in one document.

Decal Locations and Serial Number: Start Here

Page 2 tells you where the model and serial number decal lives – front of the unloading unit near the PTO shaft. It also defines right and left from the rear of the unit looking forward. The cross conveyor is on the front and discharges from the left side. If you don’t orient yourself this way, you’ll order the wrong cross conveyor chain. I’ve seen it happen.

Torque Specifications: Inside Back Cover

Standard hardware torque values are printed on the inside back cover. These are foot‑pound values for Grade 5 cap screws, Grade B nuts, and the rest. On top of that, the exploded view diagrams show a number inside a hexagon – that’s the specific torque in foot‑pounds for that fastener. If you skip the hexagon numbers on a gearbox mount, you’ll crack the housing or strip the threads.

Parts Ordering: Abbreviations and Hexagon Torque

Page 2 includes the full abbreviation list – CS for cap screw, LN for lock nut, FHMS for flat head machine screw. The manual tells you that items without reference numbers are for illustration only and not available. Every hexagon number is a torque spec. When you order, you need the correct part number, full description, quantity, model and serial number. The index at the back helps you cross‑reference.

Why OEM Over Aftermarket?

This is a factory GEHL document, not a scanned copy from some third‑party aggregator. The OEM prints are clear, the part numbers are verified, and the torque data matches what the engineers spec’d. Aftermarket catalogs often substitute hardware grades or leave out the hexagon torque callouts. On a 1620 forage box that shakes and vibrates all day, wrong torque means loose bolts and broken drivelines. Factory spec is the only reliable source.

Can I use this parts catalog for repairs?
No. This is a parts catalog, not a service manual. You need the service manual for procedures.
What torque values are listed?
The inside back cover lists standard hardware torque specs in foot pounds for Grade 5 bolts, Grade B nuts, etc. Additionally, each parts diagram may show a number inside a hexagon that indicates the torque in foot pounds for that specific fastener. This is critical when reassembling drive components – overtightening cracks castings, undertightening lets things shake loose. Page 2 explains the hexagon torque notation.

32 pages. Factory diagrams. Real torque specs. If you own a 1620, you need this on your bench. Download the Factory Manual and stop guessing part numbers.
