Twenty-eight years in the shop, and I still get calls from guys who bought a aftermarket “manual” that skips half the steps. All in imperial units – pounds, inches, gallons. No metric conversions to mess up your afternoon. For example, the hydraulic system relief pressure is listed. That’s critical if you’re swapping a pump or adjusting the swing brake.

Safety Warnings and Decal Locations

Every operator manual should tell you where the damn safety decals go. This one does. It shows the machine layout and points out warning labels for rotating parts, high-pressure fluid injection, and overhead loads. If you’re teaching a new hand how to run a 652, you read that section out loud before they touch the joysticks.

Warranty and Maintenance Schedule

The warranty section (page 2) spells out what Gehl covers and what they don’t. Transportation to the dealer? Not included. Normal maintenance items? Not included.
